Welcome to our Website. On this site we will try to explain all about ourselves and the work that Ramsbottom’s Conservative Councillors perform on Bury Council.
Who are we?
Rob Hodkinson and Ian Schofield are your local Conservative Councillors for Ramsbottom Ward.
Rob and Ian live here in Ramsbottom. They are not professional politicians.
Ian Schofield was first elected to Bury Council in May 2016 and his term of office expires in May 2020. Ian is a member of the Planning Committee.
Rob Hodkinson was first elected in a by-election in March 2014, re-elected in May 2015 and his term of office expires in May 2019. Rob is a Conservative Spokesman on the Environment, a Board Member of the East Lancashire Railway and a member of the Licensing Committee.
Whilst elected as Conservatives, Rob and Ian consider themselves to be “independent-minded” and are committed to always putting Ramsbottom first before party politics.
We have a number of volunteers and helpers and our costs are met from donations from local residents – not from the taxpayer.
Which geographical areas do we represent?
The area covered by Ramsbottom Ward stretches from the village of Shuttleworth bordering Edenfield in the east, the town of Ramsbottom itself, including the large Whittingham Drive estate, the village of Holcombe in the north of the Ward, parts of rural Hawkshaw and the edge of Holcombe Brook in the west.
There were 11,700 people in Ramsbottom Ward at the last census count, and over 5,000 homes.
