Sitting on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, against the backdrop of Holcombe Hill, Ramsbottom is a thriving market town in spectacular surroundings.

The town is rapidly gaining a reputation for having a large number of independent retailers.   Ramsbottom also has several award winning restaurants, cafes and tea rooms.

There are many annual events which make Ramsbottom a special tourist destination, including:

  • The annual Chocolate Festival (weekend before Easter),
  • East Lancashire Steam Railway / 1940s Weekends (May and September),
  • World Black Pudding Throwing Championships (September) and
  • Ramsbottom @ Christmas (3 weekends of festive entertainment and specialist markets throughout December)

Ramsbottom lies mostly within the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, with outlying areas in the Borough of Rossendale in Lancashire.
