I would like to wish all residents of Ramsbottom, Shuttleworth, Holcombe and Hawkshaw a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
2014 will bring many challenges for us here in Ramsbottom.
In the background is the threat from Peel and Marshalls of another planning application for an Anaerobic Digestion Plant at Fletcher Bank. I will keep you updated on this.
The former Mondi Paper Mill site on Bridge Street is up for sale again, so we have to be vigilant, as we do not want another unnecessary supermarket.
2014 will be another busy year for our town’s traders. Please give them your support during the year by shopping locally. Please also support the Chocolate Festival, Artisan Markets, Ramsbottom Festival, 1940’s weekend and all other events in our town so that we can continue to have a vibrant town centre.
I am very pleased that a number of businesses have opened locally over the past year. The number of apprentices in local firms has increased and employment opportunities are up.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed in 2013 that anti-social behaviour is on the increase again in our town. I am working with GMP to ensure that we get our allocated resources and staff here in Ramsbottom to ensure that we continue to be a low crime area.
We also have the new budget setting round at Bury Town Hall in February 2014. I want to ensure that our services in Ramsbottom and the rest of our township are protected from cuts by the Labour-run Council.
Please complete my poll below letting me know your priorities for Ramsbottom.
