A two-minute silence has been held in Ramsbottom to remember members of the armed forces who have died during conflicts.
Veterans’ representatives laid wreaths at the Cenotaph on Bridge Street, Ramsbottom before ex-servicemen and women marched past to commemorate their fallen comrades. They were joined by Councillors and members of the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Army and Fire Cadets and numerous members of the numerous voluntary groups that operate in Ramsbottom.
Cllr Ian Bevan laid a wreath on behalf of the Mayor and Residents of the Borough of Bury.
The town observed a two-minute silence as the Church Bells of St Paul’s struck the eleventh hour.
There was silence from the crowd of residents as the parade marched past the war memorial.
Cllr Ian Bevan said “The numbers of residents coming to pay their respects are going up. More and more people want to participate in the activities as a sign of respect.” he said.
Other remembrance events were held across the Borough.
